Nearly 200 Coronation medals were awarded to soldiers from 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment at a parade in Kendrew Barracks, Cottesmore on 25 July 2024.
The parade was attended by family and friends and also marked the regiment’s yearly tribute to the Battle of Minden, which took place on 1 August 1759.
The Vikings have been part of Operation Interflex – the UK’s contribution to train Ukrainians in the war against Russia.
While many of the soldiers were deployed to Cyprus during the coronation, Major Jet Ryan, the Officer Commanding A (Norfolk) Company, said the medals symbolise not just the coronation, but the sacrifice and dedication of the soldiers.
