3rd Battalion Prepare for Major Exercise in Denmark

3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment’s undertaking Fighting in Woods and Forests (FIWAF) training at section and platoon level.

3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment FIWAF Training

Preparations continue for the 3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment’s Overseas Training Exercise in Denmark this October. The Battalion of part of the British Army Reserves, and train to be ready to support and protect the UK.

Soldiers and Officers from across the Battalion have been undertaking Fighting in Woods and Forests (FIWAF) training at section and platoon level.

FIWAF demands a distinct set of tactical skills, presenting challenges far removed from open field or urban operations. Limited visibility, disrupted communications, altered acoustics, constrained movement, and the need for enhanced thermal and visual concealment all combine to create a uniquely complex environment.

This training period served as the final opportunity before deployment to refine those specialist skills and strengthen warfighting readiness.

The Battalion will deploy as part of 19 Brigade and the 1 (UK) Division Rear Area Operations Group, delivering security and support to operations wherever they may be required around the world.
