Major General D S J Biddick MBE MC

Major General Dom Biddick has served as the Chief of Staff of the Field Army since July 2023, supporting Commander Field Army in maximizing the operational impact and modernisation of the Army’s deployable force. He also serves as the Land Component Commander, working to the UK’s 3* Chief of Joint Operations to execute operations globally, and commands Field Army Troops, including the Land Special Operations Force, Understand Group, and CEMA GROUP.

Major General Biddick previously served as ACOS (Operations) within the Army’s Land Operations Command from 2020-22, focusing on the planning and execution of military strategy and operations. He commanded 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade in Germany and the UK from 2018-2020. During this time the Brigade operated at high readiness and deployed forces on operations in Estonia, Afghanistan, Cyprus and the UK.

Between 2015-2017 he served on exchange with the US Army, working as a Special Assistant to General Milley, the Chief of Staff of the US Army.

He commanded the 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment from 2013-2015. This time was defined by deployment to Afghanistan and the opportunity to establish and command the multinational Kabul Security Force. In September 2023 he was appointed Colonel of the Royal Anglian Regiment.

He was appointed MBE for service as a Close Observation Platoon Commander in Northern Ireland in 2001 and awarded the Military Cross following combat operations in Afghanistan in 2007.

General Biddick is a graduate of the Royal College Defence Studies (2023), Pinnacle Course, (US) C/JFLCC Course, Higher Command and Staff Course, and the Advanced Cambridge University and MA in Defence Studies with King’s College London.

Colonel (Retired) B D Weston

Colonel Bruce Weston has served in the British Army since 1999, commissioning from Sandhurst into the Infantry. He is a former Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment “The Poachers”.

A trustee of the Royal Anglian Regiment for the past six years, he has deployed on operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and has taken part in multinational exercises worldwide. He also brings over a decade of experience working across the Levant and wider Middle East.

Alongside command, his staff roles have included Defence Equipment & Support (as Military Assistant to a 3* Army General), two appointments in the Ministry of Defence (including the Army’s International Branch and as the British Army spokesperson), Directing Staff at the UK Staff College, and leading workforce allocation and civilian recruitment within Army Headquarters.

In 2022 he returned from deployment as Deputy Director of Operations for the US-led, 77-nation military coalition in Baghdad, working in and from Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Kuwait – experience that underpins his senior leadership and defence engagement work across the region.

From 2023 to 2024 he served as His Majesty’s Defence Attaché to Kuwait, before taking up the appointment of Defence Attaché to Jordan in late 2024.

Bruce is married to Katie and they have three children. He is proud to support the Royal Anglian Regiment family by bringing operational, strategic and international experience to the Board of Trustees.

Major (Retired) Stephen Card TD

Stephen joined the Army in 1972 in the Royal Signals and after leaving joined the Territorial Army where he served for over 25 years, the last 12 of which were in the Royal Anglian Regiment finishing his career as second in command of the 6th Bn. In his civilian career, Stephen worked in the London insurance market, in a number of roles, managing insurance broking and underwriting businesses globally. In 2017, Stephen was a co-founder and CEO of a new insurance underwriting business, Carbon Underwriting Ltd, running its own Lloyd’s of London insurance syndicate. Stephen retired from Carbon in 2023 and now focuses on volunteering for local charities and is a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

Stephen is also the Chairman of the Royal Anglian Regiment Museum Trust and Colonel Heritage for the Royal Anglian Regiment.

Mr David J Till

Lieutenant Colonel (retired) J C J Wright

John Wright is a trustee of the Royal Anglian Regiment Charity and the Regimental Secretary and leads the Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) team responsible for Royal Anglian, communications, benevolence and charitable giving, charitable fund management, heritage, and events.

He was an officer in the Royal Anglian Regiment for 34 years before he took on his appointment at RHQ in January 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) R Bredin

Rich concluded a 40year career in the Army in 2022, having served extensively across both Regimental Duty and a wide range of staff appointments. His service culminated in the prestigious position of Staff Quartermaster at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Throughout his career, Rich undertook multiple operational tours, including Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Sierra Leone, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and served in more than 25 countries worldwide. His breadth of experience reflects a deep commitment to operational excellence.

Upon retiring from the Army, Rich joined Turner & Townsend as a Defence Consultant. Since then, he has progressed through the organisation and now holds the position of Director within the Defence Business Unit, contributing to the development and delivery of major defence programmes.

Rich also remains closely connected to the Armed Forces community. He serves as a Trustee of the Royal Anglian Regiment Charity and volunteers as a mentor with BuildForce, supporting Service Leavers and Veterans as they transition into civilian employment.

Major (Retired) P D Connolly

Peter is a former Royal Anglian who left the British Army in 2012 after a 12 year career. During his service he completed multiple operational tours of Afghanistan, Iraq and Northern Ireland, and in east Africa.
Following his military career, Peter worked in corporate security before founding Toro Solutions in 2015. Toro is now a security risk management consultancy supporting businesses, governments and non profits, with a focus on converged risk across cyber security, physical security and people.
In 2017, Peter co founded TechVets, a non profit established to help service leavers, veterans and their spouses access mentoring, training and careers in the technology and cyber sectors. TechVets has since become a programme within the Forces Employment Charity, where Peter is a Trustee. The charity supports the broader employment needs of veterans and their families.

Captain (Retired) R W H Colgan

Commission into the Regiment in 1986, I had the pleasure of two BATUS exercises and two Op Banner tours of NI (West Belfast and East Tyrone). He finished his Regimental service as Adjutant of The Poachers.

He left the Army in 1995 and worked in the recruitment sector for nearly 10 years before founding his own recruitment firm (Oakleaf Partnership) in 2005.

He has been married to Lucy for 35 years and have two grown up sons and a Granddaughter. He still lives in the Regimental catchment area (not too far from Bassingbourn Barracks!) and feels privileged to have served as a Trustee since 2021.

Mr T Newton

Tim Newton served for 24 years in the 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment, joining as a soldier and rising through the ranks before commissioning and ultimately leaving the British Army as a Captain. During his military career, he completed operational tours in Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan, alongside numerous overseas exercises. He was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major of the Vikings and later served as the Infantry Regimental Sergeant Major.

Following his departure from the Army in 2012, Tim transitioned into the Nuclear New Build Construction sector, where he has established a strong reputation for leadership and security expertise. He is currently the Head of Site Security for the Sizewell C project.

In 2025, Tim was appointed as a Trustee of the Royal Anglian Charity, continuing his commitment to supporting the regimental community.
