The Royal Anglian Regiment’s annual sponsored Chapel Service at the Royal Hospital Chelsea (RHC) took place on Sunday 29th September 2024. This was an excellent opportunity to visit the RHC, to meet our In-Pensioners and attend a service in the outstanding Wren Chapel, followed by a light lunch.
The day consisted of a formal parade with the pensioners, followed by a church service in the Wren Chapel. The Service was supported by the Chapel choir. We then retired to the bar for a traditional military curry lunch with the Chelsea pensioners.
The day was well attended by Royal Anglian Regiment Association members and other Royal Anglian veterans. The attendees included some of the Royal Anglian Riders, our very own Motorcycle riders group, for veterans and serving personnel.
The highlight for many was the opportunity to spend some time with the pensioners, to pull up a sandbag over a beer or two. The beers were flowing, and the banter was on point. Drum Major Dougie May poured a few glasses of port, and in keeping with tradition, we raised a glass for absent friends and the Regiment….
