A Great Regimental Gathering 2026

Thank you to all those who attended the Regimental Gathering 2026

On 12 September 2026, Kendrew Barracks, Cottesmore, home to the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Royal Anglian Regiment, we welcomed serving personnel, veterans, families and friends for this year’s Regimental Gathering.

This annual occasion remains an important moment for our Regimental family: a chance to reconnect with old friends, honour those we have lost, celebrate our shared heritage, and thank the many people who continue to support the Regiment.

Memorial Rugby Match

The Poachers faced Bourne RFC in the annual memorial match for Private Adam Morris and Private Joseva Lewaicei, who were killed in action during Operation Telic 8 twenty years ago. The game was played in strong spirit and respect for their memory.

Battalion Competition

Teams from the Vikings and Poachers competed in an “It’s a Knockout”‑style challenge, taking on a series of physical activities and stands showcasing modern training methods used across the Regiment. The event brought plenty of friendly rivalry and good humour between both Battalions.

Drumhead Service & Presentations

A Drumhead Service of Remembrance was held, with the Colours from both Battalions on parade. The Colonel of the Regiment delivered his annual address, followed by presentations recognising individuals who have provided exceptional support to the Regiment in recent years.

Personnel, Cadets and veterans then marched past the dais, where the Colonel of the Regiment took the salute.

Family Activities & Regimental Band

The Regimental Band performed throughout the day, adding to the atmosphere. A funfair proved popular with children and adults alike, and many took the opportunity to enjoy a drink with old friends and remember those who could not be with us.

Thanks to the Organising Team

The Gathering was expertly organised by the small team at RHQ, supported by personnel from both Battalions, a testament to their hard work and commitment.
