The Duke of Gloucester opens the Far East Prisoners of War Exhibition – Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum

Far East Prisoners of War Exhibition

On 21 March 2025, HRH The Duke of Gloucester opened the Far East Prisoners of War Exhibition, by the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum. The museum is in King’s Lynn Town Hall, and remains open, daily, until September.

In 1942, some 3000 All Ranks of 4, 5 and 6 Territorial Battalions, The Royal Norfolk Regiment, had arrived in Singapore, just before the surrender. When Japan surrendered in 1945, only 1600 came home, after years of brutal captivity, working on the Death Railway.
