3* Commendation for Private Simpson 2nd Battalion

On 18 July 2025, Privates Davies, Simpson and Smith (L-R in photo) of D ‘Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire’ Fire Support Company, 2nd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment, came across an accident which required them to provide lifesaving first aid for an injured soldier. The delivered the required first aid, controlled the incident and transported the casualty to A&E in time to save both his life, and limb.

Private Simpson has subsequently been awarded a 3* Commendation in The King’s Birthday Honours 2026, for his leading role in providing lifesaving care, and Privates Davies and Smith have been recognised by the Battalion. As all three soldiers have just returned from being deployed on Operations, the awards will be presented at the Talavera Day and Medals Parade at Kendrew Barracks on 29 July 2026.

The Poachers are deeply proud of the actions of these young soldiers – their coolness under pressure, decisive action and willingness to step in to save the life of a fellow soldier are reflective of the highest of standards of the Poachers, The Royal Anglian Regiment and the British Army.
