Friday the 11th of July saw the first ever Royal Anglian Regiment charity clay shoot event held at the amazing grounds of the Grimsthorpe Shooting Estate in Bourne,
The event consisted of eight teams from across various different professional and corporate backgrounds who enjoyed a day of team bonding and banter. Within each team there was a serving Member of the Regiment and throughout the day the teams grew relationships and found out a lot more about the Royal Anglian Regiment.

On arrival the shooters were welcomed with Bacon rolls and a brew before heading into the woods with the thoroughly professional and fun instructors from Grimsthorpe.
There was a full morning of rotating though the fantastic traps and shooting sites on the estate before culminating in a Flush shoot which saw the whole team firing together trying to bump the points up.
The shooting improved drastically (for most) throughout the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.

After the shooting the firers headed up for a nice lunch and had a look around a couple of stands that were laid on by the 2nd Battalion which included vehicles, weapons and soldiers who were on hand to ask questions about the Regiment.
After lunch Col Ben Hawes gave a fantastic brief about the Regiment and he delivered a quick update on the state of the Army and what the future may look like and Maj Ian Robinson gave a brief on the direction that the Charity is heading in. He also gave some great examples of recent success stories where the charity had really helped its people.
There was a charity auction which consisted of some very interesting lots such as VIP Football tickets, signed sports memorabilia and an amazing watch donated by Sterling Timepieces who are a Royal Anglian Veteran owned company. There were some very generous bids made and some very happy winners.

This year saw the winning team The Bury Bag Fillers take the trophy and the best overall shot went to Andrew Gibbs.
This event was a great success and The Regimental Charity would like to thank all involved.
If you are keen to enter a team next year in an attempt to knock The Bury Bag Fillers off the top spot then please contact Ian Robinson (Robbo) on ian.robinson@royalanglianregiment.com for more information.
