VJ Day 80th anniversary commemoration service at Norwich Cathedral

|
Norwich Cathedral

80th anniversary of VJ Day on 15th August 2025. It has been decided to hold the commemoration service in Norwich Cathedral on that date. Revd Pauline Simpson is the key organiser, bringing together all the FEPOW Associations. General Lord Dannatt, as President of the FEPOW Association and the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk are both involved. I understand the Duke of Gloucester has been invited as Patron of the FEPOW Association.

The Service 5 years ago was in St Martins in the Fields, attended by 8 members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister, senior MOD etc. Pauline does not know yet how big the service will be next year. She would be very grateful for the support of the Regiment and our Regimental Associations. They are already in touch with the Royal British Legion.

FEPOW exhibitions are also being planned in Kings Lynn organised by the Royal Norfolk Regiment Museum and Moyse’s Hall Bury St Edmunds by the Suffolk Regiment Museum.
