Background: Geoffrey had just started his working life as bank clerk but in 1942 at the age of 18 he joined The Rifle Brigade for WW2. His main interests were sport and the Army.

Army career: Geoffrey enlisted at the age of 18 into The Rifle Brigade in 1942. After the War he transferred to The Suffolk Regiment. His postings included Central Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Force Countries (Italy, Austria, Egypt, Palestine, Trans Jordan, Greece and Cyprus), FAR ELF (Malaya and Singapore), Germany, Turkey and Belgium. He was awarded the OBE for his contribution to the withdrawal of Britain’s military presence in Singapore in 1970.

Date of death: 24/09/1976

Circumstances: Geoffrey died of cancer while serving with the Regiment in the UK.

Resting place: Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire
