Parkruns for Veterans

Come along to a Parkruns for Veterans (PFV) - around the UK

The Regiment has started an initiative for veterans and serving soldiers to meet up every Saturday at your weekly local PARKRUN, and participate as runners, walkers , volunteer stewards or supporters.

To participate in Parkrun there is no cost, no admin and no compulsion. There you will find veterans, comradeship, a warm community, fresh air, exercise, and a boost to mental wellbeing.

If you are interested in being a ROYAL ANGLIAN RUNNER and want to help generate this activity for our veteran communities, then register at no cost, on the PARKRUN website, and opt for the ROYAL ANGLIAN RUNNERS group or just turn up to try it out. For details see the Regimental website.

The Regiment seeks veterans to act as representatives at the PARKRUN in your area to turn up and welcome your comrades. Whether you’re a runner, a walker, a volunteer or cheering from the sidelines you’ll meet friends and comrades for fun, exercise and support.

Why get involved?

The Parkrun initiatives around the UK are positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.

It is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. Junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, every Sunday morning.

The Royal Anglian Family is now actively encouraging Veterans, serving soldiers and family members to come along to key parkruns, where other Royal Anglians and family members will be taking part.

This is a great opportunity to meet up with like minded people and exercise at the same time. Post event you could meet up for a coffee or drink and renew or start new friendships across our family network.

The main parkun website is linked below, but further down this webpage is a list of locations where we know Royal Anglians will be taking part and a contact detail for a lead point of contact at that location for the Regiment.
