Major (Rupert) Ronald Percival James TD Royal Anglian Regiment

Obituary for Major (Rupert) Ronald Percival James TD

Ron died, peacefully, on 10 February 2016, aged 84, after a long illness, in a Chesterfield Care Home.

A chartered engineer, he ran his own company, specialising in gas instrumentation for oil rigs and power stations. Ron served as a Royal Hussars National Serviceman, with The Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, The Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment, REME, Royal Signals, The Black Watch, SAS (V), The US National Guard, 6 R Anglian (V) as OC B Company in Bedford and as Battalion 2IC then as OC F Company Home Service Force in Norwich.

A founder member of 6 (V) R Anglian and of the Officers’ Dining Club, he was always extremely good company, a true legend of 6 R Anglian with hilarious tales of his long Service. We will not see his like again. Ron designed the infamous ‘RPJ 6 R Anglian’ tie.
