Brian John Aldrich FRIBA FRSA Royal Norfolk Regiment

Obituary for Brian John Aldrich FRIBA FRSA

Brian John Aldrich FRIBA FRSA died after a short illness on 2nd October 2016 in Myton Hospice, Warwickshire, in his 85th year. He served in Cyprus from 1954-56 as a 2 Lt with 1st Battalion The Royal Norfolk Regiment.

An architect by profession he was an accomplished artist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

In recent years Brian underwent several major orthopaedic operations, including renewal of both hips and a complete knee replacement. However, he and Lorna were loyal supporters of the June Royal Norfolk Regiment Officers’ Dinner and, on the following day, the Lunch with ladies in the Norfolk Club.

A generous supporter of the Framlingham College annual fund raising festival and art exhibition, an event inaugurated by the late General Jack Dye, it annually raised thousands of pounds for The Royal British Legion, Walking with the Wounded, Combat Stress and other military Charities, all to the benefit of soldiers and their families from the region.

Latterly, he donated 6 watercolours for their raffle, making £700, the proceeds going to these charities.

Brian is survived by his widow Lorna, son Keith and daughter Zoe.
