Cpl Richardson Wins Sahara Ultra-marathon 100km

Incredible news from the Sahara Ultra.

Cpl Simon Richardson of the Royal Anglian Regiment has won the 2025 Sahara Ultra an extraordinary display of endurance, resilience, and fighting spirit in brutal desert conditions exceeding 40 degrees.

Over 250 competitors from around the world took on this challenge, and it was a British soldier who stood at the front when it mattered most. Simon has pushed through dehydration, exhaustion, and pain to claim an historic victory for himself and for the Regiment.

Alongside this remarkable achievement, Simon and his team have now raised over £200,000 for four outstanding military charities a testament to the purpose that has driven him every step of the way.

This is more than a race it’s a test of will, discipline, and heart. Simon has shown all three in abundance, representing the Royal Anglian Regiment with pride and determination.

A phenomenal achievement.
Strength From Within.
Once a Royal Anglian, Always a Royal Anglian.

Before he left to take part in this event, Corporal Richardson said, “I’m going to attempt to run 100 Km over 2 days in the Sahara desert in blistering heat with day time temps reaching 40+ deg and night time temps as low as -10 .

I’m doing this to raise awareness of mental health with in the armed forces raising as much money as I can for some amazing military charities that really do change peoples life’s . Time for me to put my body / mind on the line to help others get out of there own dark places.

This will properly be the hardest thing I have ever done . Don’t quite realise what I have let my self in for . But I will push the human boundaries and get the job done.”
