Background: Ken began work as an apprentice bricklayer before joining the Army.
He enjoyed sketching and was an accomplished cartoonist. Ken enjoyed an eclectic taste in music. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet, going to the cinema and dining out. He played the trumpet in local band ‘Tally Ho’. He was always practical and enjoyed DIY.
In October 1968 Ken married Wanda at St Johns, Melton Mowbray.
Army career: Kenneth joined The 3rd East Anglian Regiment in April, 1964. His first posting was to Ballykinler in Northern Ireland.
Between 1964 and 1970 he served with The 3rd East Anglian Regiment and The 3rd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment in Berlin, Aden, Tidworth, Aldershot and Cyprus and had earned the rank of Corporal.
While based in Germany he was sometimes part of the guard detail for Rudolph Hess, and spoke to his family of feeling the historical significance of that period.
After a period at the School of Infantry, he returned to the Battalion on 31st May, 1972, and was posted to ‘C’ Company. His experienced, intelligent handling of his section brought him immediate respect and instilled confidence in his young soldiers.

Circumstances: Kenneth was shot and killed in Northern Ireland.
Resting place: Thorpe Rd Cemetery, Melton Mowbray.
