Background: Roger Howe was a Leicestershire man and head boy of Market Harborough Grammar School before joining the Army.

Army career: Roger was commissioned into the Royal Leicestershire Regiment in 1963 and was posted straight from Sandhurst to Borneo where the Battalion was on operation in the confrontation with Indonesia.

He became a member of the Roval Anglian Regiment on amalgamation in 1964 and served as Battalion officer in 4 Royal Anglian in Malta.

Roger later commanded the 2nd Battalion during the latter part of its tour in Berlin and for the most of its tour in Londonderry.

Date of death: 24/05/1989

Circumstances: Roger died of a heart attack while serving with the Regiment in the UK.
