Exercise Winter Camp tests NATO battlegroup in Estonia

Description: 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment on the role of OPFOR (Opposing Force) during a simulated attack on French troops during Op CABRIT 17 at WINTER CAMP in Tapa, Estonia. Ex WINTER CAMP is the culminating activity for the Royal Tank Regiment Battlegroup (RTR BG) on Op CABRIT 17, acting as a Combined Arms Field Training Exercise (FTX) under 1 Estonian Brigade to prove the NATO Multinational Battlegroups’ (NATO MN BG) all-year deterrence capability in extreme cold weather conditions. The exercise sees approximately 1250 troops deploy to Central Training Area (near Tapa), initially to conduct Sub-Unit training before concentrating on a series of missions derived from tactical actions within the National Defence Plan. The focus of this year’s exercise is the pursuit of advantage, showcasing the relentless drive by the NATO MN BG to innovate and adapt to the challenges of the climatic conditions and the modern battlefield and ensure NATO’s Forward Land Forces (FLF) in Estonia remains at the cutting edge of relevance to effectively deter adversaries.
