Description: Dartmoor challenge December 2008 – Capt Greenwood

I decided to do a challenge in 2008 to raise funds for the Teenage cancer trust and the Royal Anglian Regiment memorial fund. It was to remember the 9 soldiers of the 1st battalion who died in Afghanistan and my niece, Maggie, who tragically died of cancer this year aged 14. With the CO’s directive for each company to raise over £1000 for the memorial charity, I decided to do something a little arduous. Dartmoor it was then, and in December when the weather should be interesting. I read up on the routes over Dartmoor and decided that the first part should take in the 10 Tors with the second part crossing Dartmoor and finishing at the Royal Naval base in Plymouth.
