Colonel of the Regiment Commendations 2025

Description: Chris Headland served in the Poachers for a full soldier career from 1986 to 2009 with tours of duty on operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland and many postings and exercises abroad, though not least in Germany at Trenchard Barracks for the start of his career. The Poachers at this time shaped and forged his passion for its people and our history. His time as Mess Sgt in the Officers; and then Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants Mess gave him the opportunity to deepen his knowledge and impart it on other members. It is for this and Chris’ tireless and voluntary support to our veterans that we recognise him today. On leaving the Army he has been a de facto ‘Pl Sgt’ for many of our people in Lincolnshire and beyond, ensuring those who are in need, hardship and distress are bought to the attention of other family members and us at RHQ. He manages the Poachers Facebook page a very large forum which keeps its members up to date on news and events. He was very helpful for us at RHQ assisting with a recent silver audit. His wife Ange also deserves great credit for her photography in support of Regimental events. Both Ange and Chris provide excellent practical, seemingly ceaseless and tangible support to the Regimental and Poacher Family without which we would be far worse off.
The Colonel of the Regiment’s Commendation is given to serving and former members and friends of the Regiment that uphold our ethos and have demonstrated selfless commitment and dedication in the service of the Regimental Family.
