Colonel of the Regiment Commendations 2025

Description: Brigadier Richard Lyne receives his commendation for his hugely important support and work for the Regiment throughout his Army career and beyond. A very successful professional career characterised with a commission in 1987 to leaving as a Brigadier in 2023 and in those 36 years Brigadier Richard had many successful appointments and operational tours, not least as CO of the Steelbacks from 2011 to 2013, with a whole unit deployment on Op Tosca, quite the accolade for a reserve battalion. In addition to his duty to the Army he has served the Regiment with total dedication and always selflessly. As Deputy Colonel of the Regiment for the Steelbacks he provided advice and mentorship for several commanding officers well into his retirement and new career as a director for Turner and Townsend. He also took on Regimental Council roles leading recruiting and retention and is significant in ensuring this Regiment optimised its part in this current recruiting process, our healthy state of recruiting is testament to this. Finally, his leadership in his role as the lead at Council for the Cadets has been remarkable, expanding badged R ANGLIAN ACF and CCFs organisations and improving communication and links with the Regiment. He concludes his tenure in the Council in October, and he will be sorely missed.
The Colonel of the Regiment’s Commendation is given to serving and former members and friends of the Regiment that uphold our ethos and have demonstrated selfless commitment and dedication in the service of the Regimental Family.
