Hertfordshire County Council were recently recognised for their efforts and duly awarded the Gold Standard Accreditation for the Armed Forces Covenant.

This is a major achievement and recognises all that they do for the Armed Forces community which includes serving personnel, reservists, and their families.

There are approximately 36,000 veterans living and working in Hertfordshire. The 3rd Battalion has a Platoon based in Hertford and over 1500 service personnel are based at Northwood, near Watford.

The Armed Forces Covenant has enjoyed recent recognition by the Government in its Manifesto and will continue to raise its profile which is built upon four main pillars being Health, Housing, Education and
Employment.

On Thursday 30th January, Major Tim Brown, Area 2 Secretary, attended a meeting of the Herts AFC with Councillor Terry Douris, and afterwards with Colette Wyatt-Lowe, Chair Lady of the Council at the
Celebration Tea held to mark the occasion.
