2nd Battalion Celebrate Talavera Day

The Battalion celebrated Talavera Day with a formed Battalion parade, march past and families day, it was looked on by family and friends of members of the Battalion as Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals were presented to those eligible by; the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness, Northamptonshire County Colonel, Col (retd) Robert Blomfield, former Cottesmore Station Commander Col (retd) Richard Chesterfield and former C ‘Northamptonshire’ Company Sergeant Major, Mr Richard York.
The families day was then opened shortly after; theme park rides, dodgems and bouncy castles were all available as well as Inter Company football, Tug of War and British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF). 

The following day the Officers’ Mess met the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess for the annual cricket match. The game was won by the Officers’ Mess, with 2nd Lieutenant Mitchell being awarded batsman of the day. The event also served as a warm-up for the Talavera Dinner, the Warrant Officers of the Battalion were hosted in the Officers Mess to toast the 48thand their actions at Talavera.

This was also an opportunity for the Commanding Officer and the Battalion’s Officers and Warrant Officers to dine out Officer Commanding Headquarter Company the 2nd Battalion, Major Lee Waghorn and Staff Quartermaster at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Bredin. Both have served illustrious careers within the Battalion and within the wider Army. The Battalion wishes them the best for the future.
