Description: Afghanistan 2007. Operation Ghartse Gar (meaning “Mountain Stag”) was a UK-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation conducted in July 2007 in the Sangin Valley of Helmand province, Afghanistan. The operation aimed to clear Taliban fighters from the Jusyalay area, allow for reconstruction work, and secure vital irrigation systems.
